Gotoku Neko

A "Gotoku" (trivet) is a tool with legs that can be placed on a charcoal fire and hung with an iron kettle.
In the paintings of the Edo period, a yokai cat that looks like Nekomata is drawn as "Gotoku Neko", which sits in front of the hearth with this Gotoku on his head and sets fire with "Hifukidake" (a tool made of bamboo to blow into to make the fire larger).
Both Gotoku and Hifukidake are tools related to fire, but it is unknown why they are cats.
