KIRIKEN Masayo

I was born in 1973 and graduated from a junior college of art in 1994. I was introduced to paper-cutting when I was in high school and have been self-taught in paper-cutting for nearly 30 years ever since.
In 2017, a video of me putting a paper cutout on my hand was noticed on social media. I have over 73,000 followers on Instagram.
Currently, I work as a watch repairer and my family and my only son, who is in high school, continue to support each other in their creative work. My dream is to share the fascination of paper-cutting with children all over the world.
My hobbies are kendama and collecting mineral specimens. I have published my first collection of work in February 2020.

"I liked drawing since I was a child. I started Paper Cutting Art about 30 years ago and have improved skills by self-study.
Among the limitations of one sheet of paper, how far can we put a life into a work? I am exploring it over my whole life."
